Brandon Chamber of Commerce’s Response to Downtown Brandon Fire
The Brandon Chamber of Commerce is devastated by the tragic fire that roared through downtown Brandon this past weekend, destroying several businesses and historic landmarks of Brandon in the process.
Over a century of business history has been lost with the destruction of several businesses located in downtown Brandon, including Christies Office Plus, Collyer’s Sales and Service, Brandon Boxing Club, Kazic Kontracting, and the Knights Inn Cold Beer Store.
“This fire is truly an unprecedented disaster, affecting multiple businesses in Brandon, and leaving many without a place to call home…” says Tami Rourke, President of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, “However, during times of hardship such as this, we at the Brandon Chamber of Commerce have seen our business community rally together time and time again to support each other, and today is no different. We are fortunate that there are no reported fatalities or injuries, and I am optimistic that with the support of our community, individuals affected by this fire will get back up on their feet and recover in short order.”.
Many organizations and businesses have already reached out to those affected by the fire to offer aid and assistance, such as the Brandon Bear Clan, the Canadian Red Cross, Service Canada, and the City of Brandon’s Emergency Response Team. It is due to their prompt response that these individuals can remain hopeful and rebuild after this incident so quickly.
As the primary voice and advocate for all businesses in Brandon, the Brandon Chamber of Commerce openly lends our support alongside the continuing efforts of other organizations.
