Federal Tariff Supports

Prairies Economic Development Canada

Prairies Economic Development Canada offers funding to help eligible businesses improve productivity, enter new markets, reduce tariff-related risks and manage cash-flow challenges. Support may include up to $1 million for business pivot projects and up to $2 million in tariff-related liquidity assistance. Eligibility requirements apply.

Business Devlopment Bank of Canada

BDC offers financing and advisory support to help businesses manage tariff-related challenges, including cash-flow shortages, equipment purchases, automation and market diversification. Businesses with less than $1 million in annual sales may still qualify for other BDC programs.

Government of Canada Work-Sharing Program

The Work-Sharing Program helps businesses affected by tariffs or trade uncertainty avoid layoffs during temporary slowdowns. Employers can reduce working hours while Employment Insurance provides eligible employees with partial income support.

Canada Small Business Financing Program

The Canada Small Business Financing Program makes it easier for small businesses to get loans from financial institutions by sharing the risk with lenders. Up to a maximum of $1,000,000 for any one borrower, of which no more than $350,000 can be used for purchasing leasehold improvements or improving leased property and purchasing or improving new or used equipment.
